[The Star] Selangor MB tables RM2.53bil budget for 2024

Shah Alam: Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has tabled a projected RM2.53bil state budget for 2024.

Themed “Independent Selangor: Driving Progress, Triggering Unity” the state budget will have a deficit of RM330mil, which is RM120mil less than this year’s deficit of RM450mil, he added.

Out of the total allocation, RM1.33bil or 52.6% will go towards administrative expenses while RM1.2bil or 47.4 % will be allocated for development.

Amirudin, who tabled the budget at the state assembly sitting here Friday (Nov 10), said the state government estimated that some RM2.2bil can be collected in taxes.

“This figure is projected based on the track record where taxes amounting to RM2bil were successfully collected between August last year and September this year.

“Among the biggest contributors to the state’s taxes in 2024 will be land premiums, amounting to RM890.94mil – an estimated 40.5% of the entire estimated taxes,” said Amirudin.

He also said that the state Budget 2024 will have a deficit of RM330mil, which is RM120mil lower than Budget 2023’s RM450mil shortfall.

According to Amirudin, although the state’s last six budgets were all in deficit, the Selangor government will take the necessary measures to decrease the amount.
